Unit 6 Continued - My focus of growth and development

The areas I need to focus more on are biological and pyschospiritual. I know I need to focus on the weight I gained from quitting smoking and this will be a positive experience because I choose for it to be that way. My second area of focus is the psycho-spiritual aspect. I have a very hard time meditating and I need to learn to sit still and actually see what is motivating me.
My growth will be mindful and purposeful. I will meditate with the subtle mind as this exercise works well for me and I will also commit myself to walking 5 days a week  and incorporate more weights into my program. I will be more mindful of what I eat and create a food journal to use daily.

  1. First off I love the picture and quote! That is awesome! When I was younger I made my mom quit smoking and I saw her gain 50lbs very fast. As I got older I felt guilty about her weight gain. She now has lost that weight plus more and I see how much happier and healthier she is. Congrats on making the change to stop smoking! Smoking raises a persons “metabolic rate” meaning they burn calories faster. When you stop smoking that rate goes down. Other than eating better make sure you are getting your exercise! This will speed back up that metabolic rate and help you lose weight! Also, do some weight training. The more muscle you have the more fat you burn throughout the day. Don’t be scared to lift some weights! Good luck to you!

  2. Thanks for the encouraging comments. I workout 5 times a week thank goodness, so I have only put on ten pounds. I took a week off of the gym and that is when that weight jumped onto me...lol! I also have PCOS and am insulin resistant so it has been a struggle for me and my weight for some time. I have lost about one hundred pounds on my own about 6 years ago but had put forty back on within the past couple of years, then add the ten I just gained and I am back to the major struggle for control again. I know that it is always going to be an issue as my endocrinologist has warned me, but I have faith, hope and belief that I can get the upper hand as I had done previously(right before my fortieth birthday). Unfortunately age is also against me as I just turned forty five this past month - I figure the hour of cardio and the 20-30 minutes of weights I do five days a week will eventually show some success for me :)
